Managing Your Relay License

Relay for Mac uses a license or subscription to unlock Pro features.

View License Status

  1. Open Relay > Settings.
  2. Select License or the subscription page.
  3. Review whether Relay shows Pro Active or Free Plan.

Activate a License

  1. Open Relay > Settings.
  2. Go to the license/subscription page.
  3. Enter the license key from your purchase email.
  4. Click Activate.

Manage Your Subscription

  1. Open Relay > Settings.
  2. Go to the license/subscription page.
  3. Click Manage Subscription.

Refresh License Status

Click Refresh License if you recently purchased, renewed, or changed your subscription.

Deactivate a License

Use Deactivate if you need to remove the license from this Mac.

Troubleshooting

If Pro features remain locked, refresh the license status and confirm the Mac is online. Relay has an offline grace period, but activation and refresh require a network connection.


Checking for Updates

Relay for Mac can check for app updates from inside the app.

Check Manually

  1. Open Relay.
  2. Choose Relay > Check for Updates... if available.
  3. Follow the prompts to download and install the update.

Beta Updates

Relay can use a beta update feed when beta updates are enabled or when running a beta build.

If Updating Fails

If Relay is running from a disk image, move it to your Applications folder and try again.

If the update still fails, export logs and contact support.


Exporting Logs for Support

Relay can export logs and diagnostic information to help support investigate issues.

Export Logs

  1. Open Relay.
  2. Choose Help > Export Logs....
  3. Save the log archive.
  4. Send the archive to support if requested.

You can also find log tools in Relay > Settings > Help.

Copy Diagnostic Summary

  1. Open Relay > Settings > Help.
  2. Click Copy Diagnostic Summary.
  3. Paste the summary into your support message.

What Logs May Include

Logs can include:

  • Connection endpoints
  • Device names
  • LAN activity
  • OSC paths
  • Wireless diagnostics
  • App errors and update details

Review logs before sharing if your environment contains sensitive device names or addresses.


Mac Permissions

Relay for Mac may need macOS permissions for network discovery, audio input, and transcription.

Review Permissions in Relay

  1. Open Relay > Settings.
  2. Select Access.
  3. Review permission status for Microphone, Speech Recognition, and Local Network.

Microphone

Required for SPL Meter and microphone-based Live Transcription.

To change it:

  1. Open System Settings.
  2. Go to Privacy & Security > Microphone.
  3. Allow Relay.

Speech Recognition

Required for Live Transcription.

To change it:

  1. Open System Settings.
  2. Go to Privacy & Security > Speech Recognition.
  3. Allow Relay.

Local Network

Required for local device discovery, LAN sharing, ProPresenter discovery, OSC/MIDI network workflows, and network device integrations.

To change it:

  1. Open System Settings.
  2. Go to Privacy & Security > Local Network.
  3. Allow Relay.

Screen and System Audio Capture

Relay may request screen or system audio capture permission when system audio transcription is enabled.

Troubleshooting

After changing a permission, quit and reopen Relay if the app does not immediately detect the change.
