# Connecting audio consoles to Relay for scene control

> Connect supported mixing consoles to Relay to sync channel names, recall scenes, and send assignments.

Relay can connect to supported digital mixing consoles over your network, turning your dashboard into a control and monitoring surface for audio workflows.

## What audio console integration provides

* Channel-name sync
* Scene and snapshot recall on supported models — DiGiCo is the one notable exception; see below
* Planning Center assignments to console channels
* Rundown cues and snapshots
* MIDI-based scene mapping on supported models
* Automation destinations

<Note>Exactly which of these a given console supports depends on the model — see [Console actions](/relay/dashboards/nodes/actions#console) for the full per-brand breakdown of what each integration can actually do.</Note>

## Add an audio console

1. Open `Relay > Settings`, then select <Icon icon="hard-drive" /> **External Devices**.
2. Click `Add Device`.
3. Set the device type to `Audio Console`.
4. Choose the model or family.
5. Enter the host, IP, and port.
6. Configure any model-specific options.
7. Save the device.

## Common model notes

* X32/M32: OSC-based workflows, channel-name sync, cue or snippet sending, plus standard scene recall, mute, level, and pan automation actions with no third-party bridge required
* Allen and Heath Qu: MIDI over TCP/IP, with 11 distinct automation action kinds (scene recall, soft key, channel/group/send/FX levels and mutes) — see [Console actions](/relay/dashboards/nodes/actions#console)
* Allen and Heath SQ, dLive, and Avantis: MixRack or Surface target selection
* Yamaha: MIDI input and output plus Program Change mappings, across DM7, RIVAGE PM, and CL/QL model families; DM7 and RIVAGE also support standard scene recall, mute, level, and pan automation actions directly, with no third-party bridge required
* DiGiCo: show RTF import for channel mapping when needed, plus direct OSC channel-name sync, DiGiCo automation actions, and a clearer Brand/Model split in console settings

## DiGiCo

DiGiCo workflows include:

* syncing channel names from the console directly into Relay over OSC ("Sync from DiGiCo")
* Mute, Solo, Fader, and Recall Macro automation actions across input, aux, group, matrix, and control-group channel types
* picking channels by name across all of those channel types

<Warning>DiGiCo consoles don't support true scene recall over this integration — snapshot actions can only create or rename a snapshot, not fire one. If your workflow depends on recalling a stored scene, plan around that limitation rather than around the "Scene and snapshot recall" feature listed above.</Warning>

## Troubleshooting

If the console does not respond, verify the model, IP, port, network path, and any MIDI-specific prerequisites for that console family.
