# Rig advice and the guide briefing

> Understand Rivr's recommendations and adjust them to the water in front of you.

The detail view's **Rig Advice** uses the available water, weather, hatch, species, and personal preference context to suggest a practical starting setup.

## What the recommendation includes

You may see:

* Target species and technique
* Rod and line guidance
* Leader, depth, weight, or lure guidance
* Suggested patterns or flies
* A short **AI Guide Briefing** when the optional on-device enhancement is available
* A **Guide's Game Plan** with steps such as **Start here**, **If it is quiet**, and **Read the water**

Recommendations are deliberately framed as starting points. They should change as water clarity, light, flow, insect activity, and fish behavior change.

## When conditions are uncertain

Rivr may show a partial recommendation when a data source is missing or stale. A missing recommendation is preferable to false precision. Check the detail view's reason text and use the most recent observations available at the water.
