# Settings and appearance

> Customize Rivr's display, fishing preferences, notifications, and storage.

Open **Settings** to control Rivr's appearance and behavior.

## Display & Interface

Choose light, dark, or system appearance. You can also choose among Rivr's visual themes and adjust dashboard card and water-animation preferences.

## Tackle & Techniques

Choose your preferred fishing method. Rivr uses that preference to prioritize recommendations when the available conditions support more than one approach.

## Storage & Caches

Rivr keeps local station directories, coordinates, telemetry snapshots, and dashboard data so it can open quickly and behave well when connectivity is limited. Clearing caches removes those local copies; Rivr rebuilds them the next time it needs them.

The About and Data Sources screens explain the public telemetry sources Rivr uses, including USGS NWIS and USACE CWMS, along with the important limitations of those readings.
