# Troubleshooting Rivr

> Fix the most common Rivr location, telemetry, notification, and scanning problems.

## A location has no current data

Open the location detail view and check the update time. Public gauges and dam portals can be delayed or offline. Try again later, confirm that the location has the correct gauge or reach, and compare the reading with the official source.

## A river is missing from search

Search for a shorter name or the nearby dam, reservoir, or gauge. Rivr's catalog is curated and does not contain every waterway or every access point.

## Alerts are not arriving

Confirm that the location is saved, at least one notification type is enabled, and iOS notifications are allowed for Rivr. Use **Send Test Notification** in the alert settings. Alerts are best-effort notifications, not emergency warnings.

## The fly scanner is uncertain

Retake the photo with one fly centered in the frame, even lighting, and a simple background. Review and correct the suggested name before saving it.

## The app seems stale after a data change

Close and reopen the location detail view, then check the update time. If the problem continues, open **Settings → Storage & Caches** and clear the relevant local cache. Rivr will rebuild it from fresh data when available.

## Still stuck?

When contacting support, include the Rivr version, device model, iOS version, location name, and the approximate time of the issue. Do not include private account information or full-resolution fishing photos unless support specifically requests them.
