Browser view-only
Browser view-only creates a stable local URL that mirrors the currently open tab on the source Mac.- Open
Relay > Settings, then select Sync & Mirror. - Enable browser view-only.
- Confirm the port shown on the settings page — it defaults to
38475. - Copy the link and open it on any device on the same network — no pairing is required for this mode.
Mirror
Mirror lets another Relay device view your tab in real time, read-only. Select a discovered peer’s tab from the Sync & Mirror settings and choose Mirror to start viewing it. The source device controls the content; the viewer only watches.Sync
Synced Tabs require Relay Pro.
Pairing
Mirror and Sync both require the two devices to be paired first. Relay does not use a shared pairing code — pairing is approval-based, similar to pairing a Bluetooth or AirPlay device:- On the joining device, select the tab you want to Mirror or Sync and start the connection.
- On the host device, an approval prompt appears showing the requesting device’s name and what it’s asking for (for example, “wants to join a Synced Tab”).
- Tap Approve to let the connection proceed, or Deny to reject it. If there’s no response within 30 seconds, the request times out.
- Once approved, the two devices trust each other going forward — no code to re-enter, and no separate approval step for future connections between them.
Relay > Settings → Sync & Mirror, which lists every device Relay has discovered on the network along with a Paired / Not Paired status. Disabling a device there revokes its access if it was paired, or pre-blocks it from ever successfully requesting a pairing if it wasn’t.
Browser view-only connections skip pairing entirely — they’re covered by the separate “Allow view-only without pairing” toggle on the same settings page, since a browser link has no Relay identity to approve.
Sync & Mirror settings
Relay > Settings → Sync & Mirror is the single page for all LAN sharing:
- Browser View-Only Link — the stable local URL described above.
- Enable LAN sharing — the master toggle for whether this Mac or iPad is discoverable by other Relay clients at all.
- Allow view-only without pairing — lets browser view-only connections through without going via the approval flow.
- Devices — one row per device Relay has discovered on the network, showing its pairing status, how many tabs are mirrored or synced with it, and a switch to enable or revoke it.
